BERLIN, GERMANY - JUNE 21: A woman walks past the radical left-wing and anarchist Die Lunte center in the Schiller-kietz neighborhood in Neukoelln district on June 21, 2012 in Berlin, Germany. Five unknown assailants smashed windows and splashed red paint on the facade of the nearby Schiller Backstube bakery and Schillerbar, and according to media reports a left-wing group protesting rising rents and gentrification of the neighborhood has claimed responsibility. Gentrification, whether real or perceived, of neighborhoods like Neukoelln, Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain has led to threats and violent protests from radical left-wing groups. Berlin, in stark contrast to other European capitals like London and Paris, has long had a very affordable housing market, though prices in central districts have risen dramatically in the last two years.
